New product review – aviation art and autographs

100th Anniversary Editions

A carefully selected number of original autographs of decorated aircrew from World War Two, collected in the 1980s, have been attractively mounted by the Military Signature Archive into ‘Ensembles’ to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force. ‘Ensembles’ because each original autograph is displayed together with an appropriately selected collection of relevant components including classic aviation art, gold-plated RAF wings, a replica ceremonial medal, and all-metal enameled RAF Service and Command badges, all elements hand-assembled into museum- quality triple art mounts. Editions are limited to 100 – one for each year of the RAF – with Fighter and Bomber Command represented respectively by the signatures of Group Captain Peter Townsend and Air Marshal ‘Mick’ Martin – Gibson’s deputy on the Dams raid. There is also an edition of 100 Ensembles commemorating the 25 Victoria Crosses awarded to the RAF in World War Two, each with the personal autograph of F/Lieutenant Bill Reid, VC. Ensembles, which are individually numbered and delivered by courier with matching-numbered Certificate of Authenticity. These are available unframed at £125 or £145 in a choice of metal-finished frames. Many more Original Autograph Ensembles are available from the Military Signature Archive, including Luftwaffe and USAAF pilots, with prices starting at £39.
