Blackpool Airport’s Spitfire simulator

Photo: Blackpool Airport-based Spitfire simulator. WITH THANKS TO ANDREW HARPER

Further to our recent news item on the Spitfire simulator at Manston, Andrew Harper has sent us some photos of the Spitfire simulator he has created at Blackpool Airport.

Andrew writes: “It has taken me six years to get it to where it can be ‘flown’ with working instruments, realistic flight controls, intercom for up to four people, three projectors for the outside world view, sound system, vibration units under the seat for engine and gunfire enhancement, also some radios with live aircraft traffic.”

The simulator complements the other replica aircraft in the hangar, which form part of the Lytham Spitfire Ground Display Team. Open days are held on the first Sunday of the month.

All images supplied with thanks to Andrew Harper.
