Cumbria Phantom undergoing restoration

Photo: Solway Aviation Museum's Phantom FGR.2 XV406. WITH THANKS TO STEVE CAWLEY

Volunteers at Cumbria’s Solway Aviation Museum are restoring McDonnell Douglas FGR.2 Phantom XV406. Having languished at Carlisle Airport for over 20 years since retiring from gate guard duty with 14 MU, the airframe requires maintenance and a repaint. Work on the exterior should be completed by mid-summer with cockpit refurbishment to follow. www.solway-aviation-museum.co.uk VIA STEVE CAWLEY
