International Bomber Command Centre’s Salute To The 1940s event

The IBCC will be hosting its first 1940s-themed event on August 11 and 12. The team promise “a fantastic array of activities and entertainment suitable for the whole family.  We have worked in conjunction with Lincoln BIG, who run the 1940s event in the city, and we will be running shuttle buses between the two sites throughout the weekend.”

The two-day event will see performances by Heather Marie, The Bomber Command Belles, Marlaina Rube and the Bomber County Evacuees, among others. Visitors can learn how to Lindy Hop, cook on wartime rations and even learn how to add ‘victory rolls’ to complete the ever popular 1940s’ ladies hairstyle. There will be a selection of vintage vehicles, re-enactors and trade stands as well as ‘Build a Bunting’ and ‘Dig For Victory’ children’s activities.
