MiGs back on museum display in Spain

Spain’s Museo del Aire has positioned its Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-23ML Flogger 20+12 and MiG-21SPS Fishbed 22+26 in a display area, alongside former Bulgarian Air Force MiG-17 Fresco ‘Red 96’. Both the Flogger and Fishbed have undergone maintenance and been repainted at the Cuatro Vientos attraction, near Madrid. The airframes were donated to the Museo by the German government in September 1994 and came from a stock of aircraft inherited from the former German Democratic Republic. With work now complete on the MiGs, the team at Cuatro Vientos is turning its attention to Sukhoi Su-22M4 Fitter 25+18, another acquisition from Germany. The Sukhoi has been temporarily removed from the display area, and will emerge in a new livery. ROBERTO YÁÑEZ
