Staff at the 1st Wing Historical Center (1WHC) at Beauvechain, Belgium, are attempting to raise 60,000 Euros (£50,390) by April 30 in order to acquire a full size replica of a Spitfire Mk.IX. The exhibit, which is to be built by GB Replicas of Catfield, will bear the colours of both 349 and 350 Squadrons – Belgian manned RAF units that flew in World War Two. So far 1WHC is making good progress but welcomes the support of private donors. If you would like to contribute, 1WHC has supplied the following details:

The goal is to present the Spitfire at a special VIP ceremony in October 2020 in order to commemorate the squadrons’ arrival at Beauvechain in 1946. All donors will be invited, and those contributing €2000 or more will be considered as VIP, with their name/company engraved permanently on the memorial Spitfire. The 1WHC team adds: “We need to raise the full amount of 60,000 Euro by April 30, 2020 in order to be ready for the October ceremony. Major donations will be refunded if we do fail to reach our target, with the balance going towards our restoration of Starfighter FX-15.”
